TPR Views & Brews: Modern Movie Criticism
TPR brings together two of our most popular community events on Tuesday, November 5th---Cinema Tuesdays and Views & Brews.  Join us as we present a screening of Wes Anderson's "Rushmore" followed by a roundtable discussion moderated by TPR's Nathan Cone, featuring special guests Matt Zoller Seitz and Aaron Aradillas. Of course, we will also have great beer provided by Alamo Ale and other beverages available.

Texas-born filmmaker Wes Anderson's funniest and most crowd-pleasing film will be introduced by Seitz, the newly appointed Editor-in-chief of RogerEbert.com. The movie will be followed by an on-stage discussion about Wes Anderson's career, the state of film criticism in the Internet age; and Seitz's plans for the future of RogerEbert.com.

Wes Anderson is one of the most influential voices from the past two decades of American cinema. A true auteur, Anderson is known for the visual artistry, inimitable tone, and idiosyncratic characterizations that make each of his filmsBottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Moonrise Kingdominstantly recognizable as "Andersonian."  Matt Zoller Seitz has written the first-ever comprehensive study of Anderson's films, "The Wes Anderson Collection," a book that captures the style and spirit of Anderson's work in its design and layout.

Panelists:

Matt Zoller Seitz is the current TV critic for New York Magazine and Vulture.com, and is the Editor-in-chief of RogerEbert.com. He is the author of The Wes Anderson Collection." He has written, edited, or produced over 100 hours of video essays about cinema history and style for The Museum of the Moving Image and L Magazine, among other outlets. Seitz's career began in Dallas; he now lives in Brooklyn.

Aaron Aradillas: A San Antonio-based critic and journalist whose writing and video essays have appeared in Slant Magazine, Indiewire, and the Museum of the Moving Image.
